'slumber party':
in production

'Slumber Party' - the book-with-a-record mainly inspired by fun 70s Disney book-and-record sets and the gloom of the global economic crisis -
will be ready from April/May, and then there is general distribution from the summer

The design
for the record sleeve is influenced by  traditional Japanese paper folding, which is mainly used for wrapping special things.

Lucky Dragons have made amazing sounds for sleeping and for dreaming.

'slumber party':
stories for dark times

Book-And-Record Set Release in 2009.

"Every time I wake up I put on the radio news and then turn it off almost as quickly. There is economic meltdown. And there is an energy crisis: fuel running out, global warming. Every day the stories are the same. After a while I didn't want to hear about any of this. It was all too disturbing. So I began to fantasise about the ultimate easy escape. I imagined this place would be dark; there would be no artificial light because that would use up energy. We would also spend a lot of time sleeping there because it is really only during sleep that nothing can get bought or sold. And when we loose consciousness there is total media blackout."

'Slumber Party' is a book-and-record set that celebrates the night, darkness, sleep. In dark times, turn off all the lights and dream. It's the perfect world.

The set reinvents the edutainment (educational entertainment) book-and-record sets created for children by Disney in the 60s and 70s. These were made up of a storybook and a recording originally in the form of a vinyl record that could be played while following the book.

The music soundtrack for this project will be on seven-inch moon-coloured vinyl that can be played while reading a (bedtime) story in the accompanying book - or even just falling asleep.

The soundtrack for the record is made by Lucky Dragons.

The records are pressed by the last factory in Los Angeles to manufacture the original Disney sets.

The book-and-record set will be in galleries, bookstores and record shops in North America and the UK - and also at shows.

The set is made in a collectible artists edition of 400.

Shows will sometimes happen without the use of electric light.
